Vauxhall in south west London is close to the River Thames and has extensive and major redevelopment underway at present. The American and Dutch embassies are both moving here and constructing super modern embassy buildings. Directly adjacent, the redevelopment of the iconic Battersea Power station is underway along with numerous riverside apartment buildings - all very smart and very expensive! This in turn has attracted a lot of young and busy people to the area, so expect a thriving nightlife to rival that of the West End!
There is plenty to do and see locally. If you are travelling with children take advantage of the play areas at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, Lambeth Park and Vauxhall City Farm, all of which are easy to get to and worth a visit, offering lots of fun activities for the youngsters. Vauxhall Grove houses a community centre, some good cafes and overlooks wonderful communal gardens. Bonnington Square is a period square with a bohemian air about it, away from the hustle and bustle of the main roads.
The New Covent Garden Market is said to be the largest fruit, veg and flower market in the UK. The world famous cricket ground, The Oval is located close to Vauxhall Park. Vauxhall Arches offers a charming range of eaters and bars under the railway arches and close to the station. There are wonderful views of the Houses of Parliament and The London Eye from Vauxhall Station and there area plenty local amenities and supermarkets. Generally the area has a strong local feel to it which residents and visitors enjoy.

With direct pedestrian access to Pimlico, Westminster, Victoria, Mayfair, Chelsea and the South Bank, you are ideally situated to become a fully-fledged Londoner in no time. Take a riverboat from here to Canary Wharf, or simply stay local and have a quiet drink in the local pub!
