Reviews

This is a comfortable flat. If you like cooking, like me, you will also find the kitchen well equipped and nice to be in. Trying to see and do as much as you can in a place like London is exhausting (and wonderful)…we really loved coming home in the late afternoons and enjoying our "home away from home". Thankyou again, London Agent. Alex M. October 2014

The apartment was just perfect for my family (my husband, my son and me). We loved being so close to the sights (our first visit to Madame Tussaud's, which my son loved) and the centre of London, and I really appreciated the many local shops and markets. We all felt comfortable and at home. Thankyou. Margaret Foster, Wellington, New Zealand, June 2014

Marylebone is such a great area…so much to do and see. We were perfectly comfortable in the flat. I loved having the dining table by the window, you don't always get a table to eat at in rented flats, so thanks for that! We would love to come back... Anne-Marie Slater, Dublin, January 2014

"Great place to stay" This was our second trip to London. It was also the second time we rented an apartment there. Here are some of my thoughts: Pros: 1. We loved the location. Our daughter works at the London Business School. The school is literally right across the street. It is about a five minute walk to the Baker Street Underground Station. And we walked to central London and back several times from the flat. It's about three miles to Big Ben. 2. Great people to work with. No problems at all. 3. The flat was clean and had adequate room. It was just two of us staying there. Our daughter stayed on night in the second bedroom. It would be a bit of a challenge with four, mostly because of the one small bathroom. However, that would be no different than a family of four staying in a hotel room. Even though it was small by american standards, there was plenty of room. 4. The main bedroom had plenty of room and plenty of storage. The bed is small by american standards, but it was bigger than the flat we had in London a couple of years ago. I'm not a small guy (6-1, 230 pounds), but my wife and I were comfortable in the bed. 5. Nice TV with cable and three couches (on the smaller side) in the living room. There was also a dining room table with four chairs. Cons: 1. The bathroom was very small. It was actually divided into two rooms. One had the toilet, the other a small shower and sink. Very difficult to close the door to the toilet because you kind of had to dance around the door to get it closed. Again, this wasn't an issue for my wife and I, because we were the only ones there and didn't have to be concerned with closing the door. It the second part of the bathroom (the shower & sink), I literally had to turn sideways to get past the shower to the sink. I also stepped into the hallway to dry off. Again, not a big deal, because it was only my wife there. If we had children with us, the bathroom size would have been a bit more of a challenge. Jim, Omaha, USA, July 2013

The Marlybone Comfort and Ease apartment perfectly met the needs of our family of 4 (including two teenaged boys). The location was ideal as we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go from the Baker Street underground station. We also enjoyed the proximity to Regents Park for after dinner strolls. There are a couple of Tesco locations within easy walking distance, so it was no trouble getting groceries to save money on breakfast and the occasional dinner. There are also a number of nice restaurants in the area. Those unaccustomed to a little road noise should prepare themselves as the apartment sits on a fairly busy street, but that is the cost of a superb location. We would certainly recommend the flat to friends. John Pearce, July 2013

This was enough for my family of two adults and two small kids. It was neat and clean and we found everything we needed. It is extremely convienient for public transport. Gaal3, California, June 2013

We loved the location of this apartment and thought the apartment was well appointed, with the exception of the very small bathroom - could barely move around as it was so small, and had to stand close to shower wall to take a shower to avoid water seeping out on the floor. The rest of the apartment was a nice comfortable size and well appointed and in a great location and we loved how secure it was too. Was close to the tube and bus line and within walking distance to many local attractions and there was a Starbuck's only a couple of blocks away! Would have been nice to have a phone line although there was WiFi which worked perfectly. We would stay here again if traveling to London. AnneMarie and Caroline, January 2013 >br>
My parents and I really enjoyed our stay and we will certainly recommend your site. Thank you also for letting us stay longer on check out day at no charge. It was very much appreciated. Conchi, May 2013

Thank you so much for renting us the Marylebone Comfort and Ease flat back in April. We all had such a great time and took home so many fun photos and memories of a wonderful visit. The location was super, and the flat was a godsend for our young sons to wind down in at the end of the day. I was thrilled to be able to cook plain buttered pasta for the boys each night, as they tried different foods during the day but it comforted them to have their favorite plain food at night. The driver that you recommended was also great. The best money ever spent was having him pick us up at the airport and deposit us, tired, jetlagged and disoriented, right at the doorstep. Thanks again! Lou Pearson and Tal Herman, April 2013

Very nice flat in a good location...we really enjoyed our stay here. It has everything you need and is clean and attractive. The kids especially loved the fact that it is so close to Regent's Park which is full of activities for them and London Zoo. Close to shops and supermarkets, which is also useful. I can recommend this flat to anyone. Georgia Hansen, March 2013

My son and I really appreciated the Marylebone flat. The location near the Baker Street tube made for quick travel around the City. We were surprised at how much this area closes early at night--grocery shopping proved inconvenient unless done earlier in the day. liked how quiet the flat is at night and the comfort of the beds was good. The cable TV has few channels, especially lacking sports channels. The Internet service was satisfactory. Dean Howell, March 2013

Neighbourhood

Marylebone is a very smart and up-market area of central London – a truly wonderful location from which to explore and shop. The name itself is fun to say. Is it Marlee-b'n or Marry-li-bone? Londoners have their preference and wont be deterred! The name is derived from a church dedicated to St Mary and the Tyburn River, an ancient river that flowed here and into the Thames. Thus St Mary-by-the-Tyburn became Marylebone for short!

Many of London's famous attractions are a short walk away including Harley Street, Regents Park, The Oval for cricket and Madame Tussauds Waxworks. The Royal Academy of Music is here, as is the Royal Society of Physicians and various colleges, business school and universities. One of London's most famous and popular fictional characters is the brilliant Sherlock Holmes. He did his sleuthing on Baker Street at No. 221B with the help of his friend and chronicler, Dr Watson. This building is now The Sherlock Holmes Museum.

The Wallace Collection is to be found here and it is a famous national museum in an historic London Townhouse. There are 25 galleries to peruse as well as furniture, porcelain and a world class armoury. A popular painting is the ever fabulous Girl in a Swing, with her bright dress and one shoe flying off her foot as she sails through the air. She is as admired today as when she was first painted by the French master Jean-Honore Fragonard is 1767.

Regent's Park is well worth a visit. It is home to the London Zoo as well as an open -air theatre, boat-hire, many cafe's and restaurants and huge open spaces that offer a wide range of sporting activities. Runners and dog walkers love Regent's Park. London Zoo is the perfect fun-filled family attraction. The number and variety of exhibitions and animals to observe there is impressive, with new additions and exhibits happening all the time. The reptile house has always been a firm favourite with the youngsters; they may remember a scene with Harry Potter and an escaped snake that was filmed here, from The Philosopher's Stone.

There are innumerable restaurants, pubs, cafes and tea rooms to be enjoyed and all kinds of cuisine to be tried. The main shopping street is Marylebone High Street, but there are plenty of charming side streets to explore in the immediate area. Find some interesting and unusual independent shops and boutiques to browse in. The wonderful Daunt Books is a real, old fashioned bookshops with enormous character and knowledgable staff and there is a farmers market here every Saturday. Marvellous Hyde Park and Oxford Street, with the sublime Selfridges department store, are a pleasant walk away.

There is little need for taxis and tubes when you are staying here because you can easily walk down to Bond Street and even Piccadilly Circus. The transport links are excellent however, should you wish to use them. Baker Street Underground has more than it's fair share of tube-lines and Marylebone Underground also has a mainline railway station by it. The bus service is good.

This is a pleasant, cultured and authentic central London location with oh-so-much to recommend it.
