Cool Camden! Happening, lively and never dull.
Walk to the famous markets dotted around the area, renowned for alternative fashion, vintage clothing, crafts and esoterica; not forgetting everything Gothic. Enjoy the many music venues and a thriving music scene that is the envy of the rest of London! Innumerable eateries and street food may keep you fascinated for days. This is a great area for finding a real London pub or pop into one of the many café’s around for a nice cup of tea or specialist coffee! Camden High Street offers supermarkets, local amenities and some original and unusual shops.
There is much to enjoy around here, for example the wonderful Regents Park which is home to London Zoo and open air summer events. Check out the Park and Zoo’s own website to see the attractions that they offer and for news of new and upcoming exhibitions. Both the park and the Zoo have so much to offer besides just visiting the Reptile House or lazing on a grassy bank. The London Zoo is a modern, world-class one that inspires and impresses.
Camden Lock and Hampstead Road Lock are twin, manually operated locks on the Regent’s Canal in Camden Town. This area around the locks is fascinating with pleasant towpaths open to walkers and cyclists. A regular waterbus operates from Camden, heading west to Regent’s Park, calling at London Zoo and going on towards Little Venice. The water bus boat itself is charming and this service offers a fun little river-cruise that will delight everybody…
Not far from here you will find yourself in London's hub: the area around Regents Street, Oxford Street and Piccadilly! This is a great shopping alternative to the local markets and is quick and easy to get to. Tottenham Court Road and Leicester Square are a few stops from Camden Town tube station, or a pleasant bus ride away.
Camden’s central, convenient location allows you to whizz into the West End very easily or visit some of the popular neighbouring areas a little further north, such as Hampstead and Highgate. Each of these has it's own village charm, green open spaces and historical places of interest - Hampstead's Heath and Highgate's cemetery, to name a couple.
You could just stay local and mooch about the markets and parks or cycle lazily along the canals on a balmy Sunday afternoon. Head off into the evening to relax over a drink and some live music - this is the perfect place to do so.
Like we said, it's never dull around here, as you will quickly discover...
